Bush denies U.S torture and terrorism

Amid world wide scrutiny and world wide disbelief President Bush stated last week “We do not torture”.

Never mind all those torture pictures taken from Abu Ghraib.

Never mind all those torture stories, pictures and video camera tapes of those innocent detainees from Guantanamo Bay.

Never mind that scandalous 2002 Justice Department memo written by the Bush administration that sought to justify torture.

Never mind reports of U.S officials sending detainees to other countries were legislation and law could be bought for a pack of cigarettes and a beer. Oh and never mind Dick Cheney lobbying to exempt the CIA from rules prohibiting torture internationally.

** Surprised to hear that? If you are you have not been keeping up with the times and I encourage you to read further.

After a disastrous five day swing through Latin America which provoked civilians to riot against G.W Bush; certain unavoidable and very controversial questions crept up during the interviews. Reporters addressed secret CIA prisons and detention camps that resembled Nazi detention camps of WWII established by the Bush administration.

However, G.W Bush reminded us in case it had slipped our minds, “We are at war and certain measures have to be taken” – G.W Bush. “However, we do not torture”. “We do not torture,” said the president. And that’s that right? I mean, if you can’t believe the Bush administration, who can you believe? No torture, end of story.

But think about this … What does is say to you that the claim even has to be made? What does it say to you that our President has to go out and deny video, pictures, and detainee accusations and evidence of torture?

We’ve been at war before; viciously brutal wars, each one closer to having civilization on the line, yet somehow we manage to win and be the good guy. That is not to say all out soldiers were always 100% good, incapable of committing atrocities. Also it is not fair to say our officials were always 100% good, untouched by dirty deeds such as scandalous video tapes that show (U.S Army officials would command soldiers to put children mothers and other civilians into schools or churches and either grenade the building or torch the building).

Finally it is not to say our cause was always good, free from slavery, imperialism or appropriateness. But we the ignorant, blind Americans were the good guys.

We the nation of moral authority, of moral high ground, the only nation that has given itself the right to call other nations or groups of people terrorist, imperialist, and lectured other nations on human rights. And you know what those foreigners believed us. They made the impossible journey to our shores because there is freedom here, yes, a better life here and also because we stood for something special that their dictators could not offer.

In the name of fighting the bad guys, we have terrorized and murdered millions of innocents and in the name of defending Americas honor and values we have betrayed them (partly due to our leaders, but mostly due to ignorant Americans who allowed these murderers to lead our country). We have imprisoned Muslims in American and refused to say why they are imprisoned, we’ve refused to say why we had them or even to provide attorneys. We have passed laws making it easier for Big Brother to go through our emails, phones, bank accounts, social security people with information can disappear without a trace, and lives can be ruined to save our beloved president.

WAKE UP BUSH HAS equated disagreement, questioning, research and democracy with treason and terrorism!!!

And yes we have tortured. We ignore these things mainly because of fear; fear of another 9/11 and never wanting to see that ever happen again. I suggest we open our eyes and not fear terrorism, in turn we should fear the nation we are becoming.
